With reference to Sir Henry Blake's Des-
match No. 498 of the 29th. October, I have the honour to trans-
mit for your information the enclosed copy of a letter from
closure L

the Headmaster of Queen's College, containing some comments
upon the recent Report by the Examiners on the educational
methods employed in that institution.

It is unfortunate that Dr. Wright does
not find himself in agreement with the recommendations made by
the Examiners, as they have met with the full upproval of the
Governing Body and of the Government. I have had an interview
with him on the subject, as I was anxious to find a way out of
what appeared to be a deadlock, and Dr. Wright then informed
me that though he did not concur in the recommendations he
would adopt them if requested to do so by Government, but
would not accept any responsibility for the results. He also
asked for specific instructions as to the method in which the
Governing Body wished colloquial English and the reading of
English to be conducted in the school. The accompanying notes
which were furnished by the Inspector of Schools at my request
have been sent to Dr. Wright for his information and guidance
